On behalf of the Spirit of Survival Marathon, we would like to offer our most heartfelt thanks to the participants, volunteers, spectators and supporters who came out and joined us for a beautiful weekend of events!

The event was full of incredible memories, course records and fun and it would not have been possible without everyone's support!

Please check back to get additional information, photos and much more more! Run Happy!!!

The Spirit of Survival marathon is unique because it is the only USATF certified race approved to run through one of the nation's 547 Wildlife Refuges. For the individual looking for the ultimate wildlife racing experience, this event offers the opportunity to run while observing wildlife in its natural environment. Four of the five certified races run almost entirely through the expansive 60,000-acre Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. The Spirit of Survival will include the following events:
  • Mountain Marathon
  • Holy Half Marathon
  • 5-Member Marathon Team Challenge
  • Big Rock 10K
  • Mount Scott 5K - Run up Mount Scott, a paved road to the third highest elevation in Oklahoma with a scenic overlook of one of the oldest mountain ranges on earth
For those who prefer to enjoy the thrill of the event for the value of the experience, we provide two additional non-competitive events:
  • 5K Spirit Walk and Family Fun Run
  • Super Kid’s Marathon

The Spirit of Survival will take place over a weekend of racing, arts and fun events originating in Historic Medicine Park and throughout the 60,000 acre wildlife reserve teeming with buffalo, longhorn and hundreds of native species roaming free on the open range.

Race enthusiasts have described the courses as some of the most beautiful and challenging ever. From the Full Marathon which winds through over 24 miles of the wildlife refuge, to the 5K Run up Mount Scott, this course is sure to please runners searching for the ultimate racing experience full of absolute beauty.

If you’re looking for a great marathon, you’re preparing for another one or are just looking for the running experience of a lifetime, this event offers a race for everyone!

All races USATF sanctioned certified with ChampionChip timing.

The Full Marathon is a Boston Qualifying event.
