Start Training with Our Workshop



Mark Bravo, Oklahoma City author and National Running Coach, will offer his own and others’experiences, lessons, and real-life practices to prepare participants to participate in one of the races of the 2011 SOS. Whether you are a newbie or advanced runner, we encourage you to attend.

Rose Larson, an SOS success story, gave a brief talk about her own experiences of weight loss and getting active healthy. Beginning at the Spirit of Survival 2007, she continues inspiring others with her story.

OK Runner, an Oklahoma City running specialty store will gave a very informative presentation about the proper shoe for your walking/running style. Without the proper shoe, you can be more open to injury or continuing aches and pains. He explains about the different foot types and shoe types and has some really great tips and tricks for knowing when to replace yours shoes and what to expect when buying new ones.

Weekly Training Walk/Runs




Weekly training runs for individuals who are training for any of our events will be held every Saturday at 7:00 am at Elmer Thomas Park, Lawton, Oklahoma beginning July 30 - October 9, 2011. The meet-ups will last 12-weeks and the following training groups are open for anyone to join:
  • Sofa to Success: 5K (On Race Day: 3.1 miles)
  • Half Marathon 2-person relay (On Race Day: 6.55 miles)
  • Half Marathon Walking (On Race Day: 13.1 miles)
  • Half Marathon Walk/Run (On Race Day: 13.1 miles)
  • Half Marathon Running (On Race Day: 13.1 miles)
